Networked Energy Services Invests in the Future of the Smart Grid Industry

As the smart metering and smart grid markets continue to converge, NES is prepared to meet the expanding challenges of utilities around the world.

NES has made a variety of investments both in its organization and its product offerings in order to expand its capabilities.
 

The strategy began with identifying the ideal group of investors that are committed to the success of both NES and its customers. NES currently has a new group of investors, including Cedrus Enterprises Holding, who are strategically aligned and focused with a long term strategy to enable and accelerate utility transformation by creating a smarter, more secure, reliable and safer grid. NES was formed about two years ago as a result of the spinoff of Echelon Corporation’s Grid Modernization Division in October 2014.
 

NES has proven over the years that it is committed to research and development and creating new and enhanced products for customers. Over the last few years, NES has invested another $30 million for R&D in order to further develop new products and solutions. NES has expanded its engineering group and now has R&D centers in the Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA), Europe and the Middle East. NES’ R&D projects have led to a new generation of secure smart metering technology, communications and an Energy Applications Platform for grid intelligence.  
 

NES has also invested in its people. The organization has added 60 new employees during the past year. The additional staff is being utilized to assist with implementing the company’s R&D initiatives, providing new services and solutions, and supporting new and current customers. NES professional software and services organization’s new competencies now include turnkey smart metering solutions management, as well as, customized smart grid services for clients.
 

NES is also expanding its manufacturing capabilities to meet increase regional demand. Earlier this year, NES announced that it had relocated its production facility from Asia to Poland in order to be closer to its customer base. In continuing that theme, NES is now planning to add production facilities in other regions including the Middle East and North America.
