Sweden’s Landskrona Energi AB Pilots the NES Patagonia Grid Modernization Platform
San Jose, CA, April 26, 2016: Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES), a global smart grid market leader, today announced Landskrona Energi, a utility with over 20,000 customers in Southern Sweden, has been piloting the NES Patagonia Platform for its distribution smart grid solution, including the NES market leading AMI application and smart meters and support for District Heating metering. Landskrona Energi began deploying and testing the Patagonia platform in 2015.
Landskrona Energi selected NES Patagonia because of its leading security features, proven global track record with over 36 million meters using NES technology, and its multi-application platform value proposition. In addition, more than one million NES smart meters and smart grid technology have been in operation in Sweden for over a decade, delivering over 99.7% daily communications performance with unmatched hardware reliability and software quality.
Landskrona Energi has been working with NES partner Metrima since 2007 and Metrima is continuing to work with them on their AMI and smart metering expansion efforts. Landskrona Energi chose to utilize NES’s Patagonia Power Line Communications (PLC) option because of its superior performance track record and its ability to coexist with Landskrona Energi’s existing PLC based System.
Mr. Rickard Alexandersson, the Project Manager for Landskrona Energi stated, “We are impressed with the strong partnership between NES and Metrima and the fact that the NES Patagonia Platform is secure and delivers the highest SLA’s in the market on a multi-application platform where the return on investment is strong for us. Our testing has shown that the NES System successfully delivers the desired functionality and performance including supporting multi-utility metering.”
Mr. Alexandersson added, “During our pilot, we have found that the NES System is easy to install and requires no manual follow up because of the NES System’s support for Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) and its integrated mapping feature. In addition, we have experienced outstanding reliability and performance from the NES System without the need for any extra repeating devices.”
“We are excited to have Landskrona Energi benefiting from the NES System and we look forward to the opportunity to assist them with their migration to AMI and smart metering and eventual grid modernization programs", said Michael Anderson CEO of NES. “We look forward to assisting Landskrona Energi and other Swedish utilities as they migrate to smart metering as required by regulation in Sweden.”
“Landskrona Energi is an important customer“, said Reine Iggland CEO of Metrima. “And as an existing customer, our goal is to make sure that they have access to modern technology, and that their investments continue to keep their value, which is why we have introduced them to the NES AMI solution.”
